Learn On The Job

La Conner volunteer firefighters have the opportunity to complete certification training for one or more of the following: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Operations, Traffic Incident Management, and Wildland Firefighter.

Requirements To Become A
Volunteer Firefighter

All volunteer firefighters must be at least 18 years of age, reside in the Town of La Conner and/or its fire district for the last six months, and gain permission from Fire Chief, Aaron Reinstra. During the application eligibility process, you are required to:

  1. Attend a minimum of 10 fire meetings and/or be involved for a minimum of
    60 days

  2. Pass the National Criminal
    Background Check

  3. Pass the Department of Licensing Abstract of Driving Record

  4. Pass the Washington State Volunteer Firefighter’s physical exam
